“Are you a Private Label [PL] Manufacturer?”
Over the years we have figured out that “Private Label” is defined differently throughout the spa and professional skin care industry. We call ourselves Custom Formulators [we develop, manufacture and fill custom products all under one roof], although that can be confusing to some.
We believe that everyone should have their own products that are distinctively made to support a company’s individual philosophy. Plus, we will formulate your product from scratch, to preserve the integrity and purity of the ingredients and most importantly, we add in therapeutic amounts of ingredients ignoring the conventional wisdom that a ‘token’ amount of an ingredient is satisfactory.
Whether you are an established company or brand new to the spa or skin care industry, you deserve the best product, yet to be created. The typical responses we get, when we tell individuals all that we do here are… “I didn’t know a company like you existed.” “You can do THAT for me?” “Your minimums are THAT low?”
No matter what category you lump us under… We are truly unique and we care about our clients.
“Who do you make product for?”
Mums the word -- Our company mantra of “Secret Service” in engrained in all of us. We will not divulge who our clients are in order to gain a new client. We understand it may be difficult to grasp that a company would actually respect their clients enough to not spill the beans, even if it means losing a potential client. But, that is who we are and we are quite proud of our “Secret Service”.
“Can you copy a product?”
We do not copy nor do we reverse engineer products. We ask that clients tell us what they like about a product [if they have one that they like] and give us their wish list [if they have a list started]. We will always put our own development stamp on a product and make it better than the original version. Truly, isn’t that what you would want anyway… a better product?
“The development process seems daunting. Is it?”
We understand that it may cause some anxious moments if you think that you have to develop a custom product, rather than pick a ‘To Go’ product. However, our professional development process is organized to make developing an exciting experience for you [please ask to see our Blueprint ™]. We have trained Development Strategists that work as a team, on all development projects; therefore, there is always someone here to help you. We take all projects to heart – and it shows. You will always be in excellent care! Our clients think of us as part of their company – just not on their payroll.

“Do you work with start-ups and/or smaller clients, or are you solely a manufacturer for larger companies?”We do formulate and manufacture for very large corporations. However, CoValence is successful because we work with start-ups and smaller companies. We have found that the smaller companies keep us as their lab and manufacturing partners as they grow. We are attractive to smaller companies because we have incredibly low industry minimums for custom products [1 – 3 gallons bulk and 300 – 500 finished pieces filled for most formulas]. We do not know of any manufacturer that can say that they custom manufacture quantities as low 1 gallon up to 100+ gallons. It is because of our diverse manufacturing capabilities and our Development Strategists that makes us appealing to most companies.
