Logistics

Believed to have originated in ancient times, logistics is now as much needed for today’s modern business as it was centuries ago. Unlike the great warriors of the Roman Empire, logistics implementation for CoValence is not focused on the movement of food, water and weapons, but the successful movement of ingredients/finished goods, containers and packaging – to our clients.
Coordination of the movement for any item is vital to running a successful business today as much as it was to winning a war back during the reign of the Romans. Obviously, the consequences are far less severe now a days if one’s supply chain is broken. Yet, it is still traumatic for clients when they need a component and it is not available and a backorder ensues.
Fortunately, CoValence has some high tech ways to help us from losing the logistics battle. Some examples that we utilize are: Enterprise Resource Planning program that helps manage inventory levels with alert managers and triggered reorder points; Carrier websites with accurate tracking detail and delivery dates, plus the ability to expedite goods to anywhere in the world. Oddly, a number of these programs were not available in the recent past. Yet, all companies (not only manufacturers) must keep up with logistics and technology in order to win the supply chain battle.
For the success of your company, check your logistics plan – is it from the dark ages or embracing all that technology provides?
