Find out what CoValence considers the perfect packaging from our very own Inventory Department.

From the CoValence Laboratories Inventory Department

As a member of the warehouse receiving team, I see all types of client packaging on a daily basis. We store all packaging to include bottles, jars, pumps, caps, labels, tubes, retail boxes, and inserts for our clients on site in our warehouse. While receiving in new stock, I oftentimes find myself speculating as to why clients picked their packaging.

Were they going for the green look with the simple, matte, natural designs and colors?

Will they be selling their product at high end stores utilizing the shiny pumps and retail boxes?

Was this the packaging our client dreamed about when creating his finished good?

Was this the look and the idea he had in mind to portray to the end consumer?

These are things I wonder. For us in the warehouse though, our favorite packaging and labels are the simple trouble-free variety that have consistent, smooth transitions time and again through manufacturing, filling, and shipping. Of course, we also enjoy having plenty of client packaging on hand when called for! To see a few interesting tips on how to pick packaging for a new product, click here.

We offer stock packaging, currently stored on hand in our site warehouse. Contact your Covalence Laboratories Account Executive or inquire at customerservice@covalence.com to get a packaging catalog sent to you via email.

Comprehensive client inventory reports can be sent upon request to all clients so that they know which packaging items we have stored here for them at any point in time.

When ordering packaging, order 10% more than needed to allow for scrap.

We can supply shipping cartons and pack finished goods for shipping utilizing our supplies if requested.

We do not adhere clear labels.

Always get and double check proofs from label and silkscreen suppliers before they print.

Always make sure size is on the silkscreened bottle or label accurately before print.

When shipping packaging from one location to another, make sure to utilize a packing list or at least send the receiving location an email with the item #, the item description, and how many eaches the site should be receiving. Example – 20 cases @ 348/case.

What is the future for peptides? Airless packaging isn't what it used to be. American Spa is on a search for Arnica products.

The Future of Peptides

There are endless possibilities for the use of peptide ingredients in products. Although peptides are used mostly for anti-age, peptides are now being used for other skin care issues such as acne and inflammation. This article mentions that formulators will start adding more than one peptide to a product to help with a myriad of skin issues. It is a point well made, but CoValence has synergistically formulated peptides in formulas based on the purpose of the product. We enjoyed the article, however we do get concerned that articles as this one, written by well known industry leaders, will be taken as new thinking when in fact it is not new to CoValence.

Airless Packaging Goes Upscale

If you are confused about what packaging to put your product in, you are not alone. But one dispensing system, the airless system, is taking the packaging world by storm. The benefits of airless packaging are numerous; protect the product for contamination, controlled dosage, great for airline travel, sophisticated look, almost 100% evacuation and numerous packaging/design options available. Airless packaging may be the wave of the future but not all products can go into an airless container. For instance products with high actives need extensive compatibility testing to ensure the packaging can withstand the product. Also, with numerous packaging companies to choose from getting true airless packaging can be difficult. Making sure you buy from a reputable company is the key. CoValence carries an array of airless packaging options for purchase. In addition, we are one of the few Private Label and Contract Manufacturers that can fill airless packaging.

American Spa Magazine Looking for Arnica Products

Take advantage of this free advertising! In the June issue of American Spa the In The Mix column will be showcasing products with Arnica.

If interested, contact American Spa Magazine by Friday, April 3 with the product name, a short description of the product and how arnica plays an important role in the products efficacy.

Don’t have a product with Arnica? Contact CoValence to develop a product with a great arnica story. Arnica is a plant extract that helps repair damage, reduce swelling and minimize bruising. It acts as a stimulant to improve cellular respiration and circulation, is highly anti-inflammatory and provides pain relief associated with skin irritations.
